Hannah’s Beach Resort and Convention Centre, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte
I was booked to stay at an oceanfront resort for three days and two nights. In the morning, I decided to take a walk down the road and see what I can do with my day. Kayaking is already a given staple, it is but a matter of picking the rental.
I passed by several houses that looked like they have taken on a commercial cause but they still looked very basic. A bit farther and I saw bigger huts. I asked a bystander about staying in them and he pointed at the huge block of colourful concrete in front of us. It had a big blue and yellow sign that said Hannah’s Beach Resort. I recognised the name from their website. I chose not to stay with them because the place seemed too enterprising. It was better for company outings and out-of-town office functions.
I went inside the office and asked about the huts. 500 php for six hours for the huts right along the shore is not bad. You can also order food and drinks from them or grab them from the neighboring shops at zero corkage. They also rent out kayaks at 300 php per hour, no extra charge if you come back a bit over the time frame as long as it does not extend to a full hour. It is a shame that they keep the people off the beach as soon as it gets dark. It is more dangerous since the tide gets way higher but it would be fun to be in the water. Maybe set a proper barrier so we do not swim too far out to lethal depths, just like they do in Batangas. The waters are incomparable but it is a close compromise between safety and leisure.
